Mission Against
Human Trafficking

MARY WARD LORETO is planting hope with a human rights approach to combating modern day slavery. This challenging mission is implemented through works of justice, education, grass roots action and systemic change.
The aim is to eradicate poverty, the prime cause for human trafficking.

Ethics in Education System.

Lack of education can lead societies to crisis and stagnation. In our modern world, one of the most aggressive developments is Modern Slavery, a phenomenon that is rarely talked about. In our last research into the ethics of the Albanian education system, we found that proper ethics as a foundation and as a curriculum for all ages was missing. To help the education system, MWL’s main trainer, Zana Guri, created the first module of an Ethics Training which will be delivered in teacher communities throughout Albania. We had the chance to deliver 2 sessions of this training in Lezha after the invitation from Beslidhja high school with the facilitation of Aferdita Gjoni, MWL Social Worker.

In these sessions, 44 teachers of the high school participated and shared their experiences and difficulties in their everyday work. Their struggles were enormous, but their dedication was much stronger. The training methodology was created to reflect reality, making it as realistic and applicable as possible. They were presented with real cases and engaged with the resources to problem solve. This training will be followed by more sessions. We look forward to continuing to spread this work.
