Mission Against
Human Trafficking

MARY WARD LORETO is planting hope with a human rights approach to combating modern day slavery. This challenging mission is implemented through works of justice, education, grass roots action and systemic change.
The aim is to eradicate poverty, the prime cause for human trafficking.

Frida is a 19-year-old girl and is part of the leadership program group in the “Mirdita” neighborhood community of Durres. She comes from a family with many children, 4 sisters and one brother. Now she is a first year student at Durres University for business management. Since the beginning of her participation in this program Frida has caught our eye because of her potential for leadership in the group. She is a very sensitive, ambitious young woman with clear ideas of what she seeks for herself. She is strong and is confident she will fulfill her goals. The community and the environment in which she lives is very small compared to the potential she has to express her gifts in the community. In the social activities conducted within the leadership training group, there have been many volunteering activities with vulnerable people. These have included groups of abandoned elderly and children living on the streets. Frida’s engagement has been impressive due to her sensitivity to vulnerable people and her ideals for young people of her age. She wants to make the world a better place to live in today. Even within the group she is an asset and other young people look to her for support. She is the best example of the possibility for development for these young people. She is already a community leader and an example for other young people in her community.
