Albania Mission Against
Human Trafficking

MARY WARD LORETO is planting hope with a human rights approach to combating modern day slavery. This challenging mission is implemented through works of justice, education, grass roots action and systemic change. The aim is to eradicate poverty, the prime cause for human trafficking.

On 25th of October, in the framework of the Month of Anti-Trafficking of Human Beings, the Caritas Dioqezan Tirana-Durres, in cooperation with the Albanian Caritas, the Tirana Youth Center and the Harry Fultz Institute, organized an awareness raising activity against trafficking in human beings.

Mons. George Frendo O.P., Metropolitan Archbishop of Tirana-Durrës, in his introductory speech brought some real stories to victims of trafficking giving the united message to fight this phenomenon. Representatives from the Tirana Prefecture also spoke of the  importance of these awareness-raising activities for all but especially the young people. He also spoke of the importance for cooperation of all actors and partners to combat this phenomenon.

This activity was designed as a performance with artistic works by young people, such as recitation, essays and projections. Each of the hosts sent a message against domestic violence, emigration and a powerful message against this wound not only to Albanian society but across the globe, with the title: Love does not kill.
